Hue Visa Run Instructions

Keep this checklist with your documents for the Hue to Lao Bao run. Dispatch also sends instructions via WhatsApp the evening before departure. The order is Vietnam exit, Laos entry at Dansavanh, Laos exit, then Vietnam re-entry. Before travelling, confirm what authorises both your entry into Laos and your return to Vietnam.

01

Prepare your document folder

Upload clear passport and portrait scans for the team to review. Pack the original passport, your current Vietnam visa or residence document, and the approval you intend to use for re-entry. Bring a printed approval and save the PDF offline so a flat battery or weak signal does not hide the document.

The preparation checklist calls for at least six months of passport validity and two blank visa pages. Check these before booking, along with the passport's condition. Bring two passport photos if you need a Laos visa on arrival. Ask dispatch to confirm the current photo requirements and whether your passport needs a visa arranged before travel.

Compare the approval with the passport: full name, passport number, nationality and validity dates. An application receipt is not an approval. Put every traveller's documents in a separate folder, including children's papers, and flag discrepancies before departure.

02

Confirm pickup and cash

Confirm your Hue City, Phu Bai or Lang Co pickup address with dispatch by 20:00. The published pickup window is 04:00 to 05:30; use your individual confirmation for the meeting time. Be ready in the lobby with your phone available for the driver's location message. Tell the team about luggage or a different return address before the car arrives.

Carry clean USD notes for the Laos visa fee if applicable, plus VND for your agreed transport payment, food and personal expenses. Confirm the current fee for your passport and what your booking includes. A transport quote is not automatically a quote for both countries' visa paperwork. Do not depend on finding an ATM or paying by card at the counter.

Charge your phone, save dispatch's details offline and bring a power bank, water and a snack. Keep your passport, cash and approvals with you when leaving the vehicle.

03

Exit Vietnam and check the stamp

At Lao Bao, meet the border assistant and follow the instructions for the Vietnam exit queue. The assistant helps organise documents; immigration officers conduct the checks and issue the stamps. Remain available to answer questions yourself and tell the assistant immediately if an officer asks for another document.

When your passport comes back, open it before moving on. Check that the Vietnam exit stamp is present, readable and dated correctly. If anything looks wrong, ask the officer or assistant while you are still at that checkpoint. Do not assume the stamp was added simply because your passport was returned.

If the visa desk has requested proof of exit, photograph the whole relevant page in good light without glare or fingers covering the stamp. Send it immediately and check that it arrived clearly. A photograph of an old entry stamp does not show that you have completed today's exit.

04

Complete the Laos forms and entry

Follow the assistant to Dansavanh. If using visa on arrival, prepare the application form, passport photo, passport and confirmed cash fee. Copy the identity details from your passport, then read the completed form before signing, even if someone helped fill it out. Ask for help with an unclear field instead of inventing an address or journey detail.

The Dansavanh visa-on-arrival guide also explains the Lao Digital Immigration Form. Confirm the current submission instructions before travel and save any required QR code offline. The arrival information and the visa application serve different purposes; completing one does not automatically complete the other.

After processing, check that your passport has the Laos entry stamp. Follow the departure procedure for the Laos exit stamp before returning to Vietnam. Crossing the space between the checkpoints is not a substitute for completing the Laos entry and exit formalities.

05

Avoid the mistake that blocks re-entry

Do not try to return on the single-entry visa you already used to enter Vietnam. A future expiry date does not give that visa another entry after you leave. This is a document problem that a car booking or a helpful assistant cannot solve at the window.

Before leaving Hue, have the team review the actual basis for your return: a usable approval or a confirmed applicable exemption. The guide to Lao Bao e-visa problems covers used single-entry approvals, identity mismatches and validity dates. If you are waiting for an approval, confirm the plan before exiting Vietnam. A pending or rushed application does not guarantee permission to return that afternoon.

06

Re-enter Vietnam and read your permission

Present your passport and the documents supporting this entry at the Vietnamese checkpoint. When the passport is returned, check the new entry stamp and permitted stay with the assistant before leaving the counter. Do not calculate your departure deadline solely from the advertised length of an e-visa service.

Send the team a clear photograph of the new entry stamp if requested. Keep it with the approval and exit-stamp photo. These records help the desk check what happened at the border and distinguish your current permission from any later application or follow-up request.

07

Lunch, return and follow-up

The return follows QL9 and QL1, with lunch in Dong Ha or the arranged packed meal. Published drop-offs are around 16:00 to 17:00, subject to the day's road conditions and border checks. Avoid making an onward connection depend on that estimate.

For a booked 90-day e-visa service, watch WhatsApp or email for the desk's submission update and eventual approval PDF. Read the issued document when it arrives. A submission message does not replace the permission recorded at your latest entry.

08

Ask for help before moving on

If a document is missing, a stamp is unclear or your return arrangements change, message +84 369 308 237. Tell dispatch which checkpoint you are at and what the officer requested. Stay with the agreed meeting arrangements while the team checks the issue. The Hue visa run FAQ covers pickup, route and booking questions.
